Non-magnetizable steels are characterized by low permeability, the lack of any magnetizability and high strength and corrosion resistance. The alloying elements of manganese and molybdenum stabilize the austenitic structure compared to normal rust and acid resistant steels. and avoided ferrite formation. This achieves the non-magnetic properties and a higher resistance to sea water. These alloys are also called submarine steel.
